APRIL 2008
Newsletter Sr. Patrol Leader – Andrew Jarrell Asst.Sr. Patrol Leader - Alex Potter MULTI-LAKES CAMPOUT* April 18-20 Meet @ scout shed around 6 pm----ends Sunday 1 pm. Bring/borrow fishing gear. Fishing on site. Cost $10 - covers food. As Troop 229 has invited us to participate at their Sports Theme camp outing… we may be participating in some of that as well. We can use more parent/guardian participation in the troop. We really do need more assistant scoutmasters. To do that----- sign up for a short, local, interesting, wonderful weekend training May 9-11. Sign up NOW. Visit www.cvc-bsa.org or call Clinton Valley Council 248- 338 -0035. We have canceled events simply because we do NOT have enough scout leaders. Your participation is required when your scout is in the troop. It is the right thing to do for you, your scout, and the troop.
MULTI-LAKES and TROOP 170 TEAM UP Those of us who have been in the troop for some years---know that Troop 170 has enjoyed the connection with Multi-Lakes Conservation Assn. The club provides us with a great local camping facility and has supported us in the past in innumerable ways. Did you know that Multi-Lakes bought us our scout trailer? Likewise, our scouts have provided help at the “Good Old Days,” and “Haunted Forest” events. For 10 years, former troop parents and scouts have been working the fish fry every 6 weeks. At our March 31st meeting, members of Multi-Lakes and former troop parents visited our troop to ask us for much needed troop assistance and new blood at the fish fry every 6th Friday. These parents are asking that the current troop (both parents and scouts) take over this responsibility. This happens every 6 weeks starting this Friday April 4, then again May 16, June 27, etc. It is easy. Scouts simply show up at 5:15 in the kitchen. Dinner runs from 5:30-8:30. Some of the jobs include distributing food & helping at the salad bar. The Troop prefers that you wear your scout hat and class B T shirt (not scout pants). Scouts receive community service hours and it’s fun. It means a great deal to club members to see the scouts working there. A May clean up workday is scheduled as well. Let’s all join in and support our troop sponsor - Multi-Lakes Conservation Assn. · Campouts are generally scheduled for the 3rd weekend of the month · Parent/scout meetings- 4th Monday/month Next one April 28 · Meetings to be held in the Skeet and Trap Building (temporary). · Soon news concerning our Troop activities will be posted on www.multilakes.com Options 2008
